Jerusalem and Bethlehem

The big question among backpackers in the Middle East in about Israel, the visa stamp, and about how long you waited at the border for. We got the stamps in our passports, and got held up for about 2 hours going both ways through the King Hussein Bridge /Allenby border crossing between Jordan and Israel. Lebanon Part II

We reached the northern mountain town of Bcharre by a slightly rickety bus, packed beyond capacity and causing great concern for its most probably expired suspension. The bus was mainly crowded by soldiers returning from Tripoli who were all too happy to assist us in getting off the bus at the right location – buses in Lebanon operate on a hop-on, hop-off system and there are no bus stops. When we stepped out of the bus it was a great relief after the dusty, crowded big cities of Beirut and Tripoli to breathe some fresh mountain air. Continue reading

Being safe off the bike has many of the same things that you are always told to do while travelling in general to stay safe. Travel, with all of the safety books and things for sale, one would think is a dangerous thing to do. It isn’t if you use your head a bit.
